A Sonoita Station Border Patrol agent apprehended a 50-year-old male, previously convicted of attempted murder, Sunday morning after he re-entered the U.S. illegally near Patagonia, Arizona.
Salvador Gomez-Saldavar, a Mexican national, was arrested and transported to the Sonoita Border Patrol Station for processing. During a subsequent fingerprint and criminal records check, agents discovered Gomez-Saldavar, who also uses the aliases Luis Armas- Lara, Gomez-Salvadore, Gomez-Salvador, and Salvador Louis Gomez, was convicted in 1994 in Fullerton, California of attempted murder. He was sentenced to five years in prison. Gomez-Saldavar now faces criminal prosecution for re-entering the U.S. as a felon.
Gomez-Saldavar will remain in federal custody to face illegal immigration charges.
